Me: Jack, time to get up and go to school!
Jack: I don't want to! School is booooooooring!
Me: Jackson, eat your food that Mommy made for you.
Jack: I don't like it! That food is booooooring!
Me: Hey Jack, don't you want to go outside and play on the bounce house?
Jack: I don't want to play outside right now! Outside is booooooooooring!
I think that it is his 5 year old way of saying "that sucks" without the repercussions.
Today, Jack came out of therapy and his OT told me that he was asking the most interesting "why" questions about the body again. He was in a great mood all day today and asked me all about why we have noses, eyes, hands, skin (again), mouths, etc. It was a good conversation. I love the time that Jack is in therapy because there are so many other like-minded moms I know there. I sat with one lady today and we talked about how crazy some of the people on this base are. I was starting to think that it was just me or something! Seriously though, it is inevitable that drama happens at a military base because everyone knows everyone's business but....this base takes the cake for people who are cray cray!
I FINALLY got Jackson to agree to a haircut today! Those of you who know Jack know that he is really sensory and haircuts violate every rule on his no no list. The tiny hairs that get on him freak him out, the sound of the clippers, the feel of them running through his hair...it all adds up to a big, giant freak-out. Well, it has gotten to the point where his cowlicks on the back of his head looked like two squirrels fighting, so we had to do something about it. I do not want him looking like a hobo at his Pre-K graduation! I took him to Ms. Jessica at Hair Express and she did SUCH a great job. I swear, this is the best his hair has ever looked and this is the ONLY time he has ever let someone put gel in it. He usually gets all mopey and says "I want to look like Jackson!" until I wash it out but he really loved his little faux-hawk! I am going to have to stick her in a suitcase and bring her to Germany because I don't think I will EVER find anyone who can cut his hair like this again, lol. When we got in the car, he said "I look GOOOOOOD!". After we got home, I tried to clip a cute bow in his hair for fun but he wasn't having it, so I clipped it to my cat's fur on his head and then on my other cat's belly fur. They weren't amused.
Garry's grandpa came down from Michigan today to visit for a while and Jack just loves him! Jack was horrified to discover that his Grandpa has never seen Spongebob, so they sat down and watched it. I surely hope I feel a lot better soon because they have plans to go camping next week for a few days and that will not be very pleasant if I am still hacking my lungs out and sleeping 15 hours a day. We went to Lowe's and Jack decided that he wanted a CARS book with little action figures, so I gave his money from my dad to him. He carried that book around with a worried expression on his face for a little while and then decided to lay down on the floor and cry quietly! I picked him up and asked him what was wrong and he wailed "I DON'T WANNA SPEND MY MONEY BUT I WANT THE BOOK!". Haha, poor baby! I know just how he feels! I told him not to worry--I would buy that book for him but his Grandpa ended up buying it for him instead. Jack was so tired, he was asleep before we even got home.
BTW, we leave for Germany in 18 days. Eeeeeeek.
