Day 50 -- Halloween!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

It is Halloween day and Jack woke up SO happy and excited!  I told him it was Halloween and he said, "I can knock on doors and ring doorbells!!!!".  He has been looking forward to this since LAST Halloween and this is the first year that he is really stoked.  He even carried pieces of his costume around all day long, asking if it was time to put it on.  The day started out great with skyping with Daddy (Jack's daddy) and me finding the applique Halloween shirt I SLAVED OVER!  It had been missing for a week and I was so thrilled to find it...in a plastic bag full of garbage in the garage.  Don't ask because I don't know.

First of all, I took Jack to a small pumpkin patch just about a mile from the house to get a new pumpkin to carve.  They had Spongebob and Patrick and Gary the Snail there and jellyfish hanging from above!  Jack just flipped out, lol.  It was SO cute!  We bought a big pumpkin there and took it home to carve it and Jack got in a bit of trouble for stepping on my camera deliberately.  When he got in trouble, he kicked me in the back, so we went in the house to calm down (after he got his butt whipped pretty good).  I ended up cutting the owl's head off anyway, on accident.

At 6:15, I got him dressed and grabbed his Trick or Treat bag and loaded him up in the wagon and we took off throught the neighborhood and he was SO excited.  There were tons of little kids out and about and Jack loved ringing the doorbells.  He kept telling people he wanted to come inside their houses and watch their tvs, lol.  We ended up meeting up with Keirsten and Ainsley and Jack just had a blast.  There was a guy dressed up like Beetlejuice and Jack ran up to him and said, "You are a ghost.  Hi, my name is Jacky."  LOL!  He has NO fear.  One couple even had their garage set up like a haunted house with strobe lights and black lights and he ran on in there for his candy, even though bigger kids were hanging back.  Wild child!  By the end of 2 hours, he had to drag his candy bag because it was as heavy as he was and he was not unhappy to be home.  I could tell that he was super-tired, so I fed him something solid, let him eat one treat and then gave him a bath, brushed his teeth and put him in bed.  He passed out cold within 10 minutes and didn't even protest going nite nite.  It was a great Halloween. :)
