Day 50 -- Halloween!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

It is Halloween day and Jack woke up SO happy and excited!  I told him it was Halloween and he said, "I can knock on doors and ring doorbells!!!!".  He has been looking forward to this since LAST Halloween and this is the first year that he is really stoked.  He even carried pieces of his costume around all day long, asking if it was time to put it on.  The day started out great with skyping with Daddy (Jack's daddy) and me finding the applique Halloween shirt I SLAVED OVER!  It had been missing for a week and I was so thrilled to find it...in a plastic bag full of garbage in the garage.  Don't ask because I don't know.

First of all, I took Jack to a small pumpkin patch just about a mile from the house to get a new pumpkin to carve.  They had Spongebob and Patrick and Gary the Snail there and jellyfish hanging from above!  Jack just flipped out, lol.  It was SO cute!  We bought a big pumpkin there and took it home to carve it and Jack got in a bit of trouble for stepping on my camera deliberately.  When he got in trouble, he kicked me in the back, so we went in the house to calm down (after he got his butt whipped pretty good).  I ended up cutting the owl's head off anyway, on accident.

At 6:15, I got him dressed and grabbed his Trick or Treat bag and loaded him up in the wagon and we took off throught the neighborhood and he was SO excited.  There were tons of little kids out and about and Jack loved ringing the doorbells.  He kept telling people he wanted to come inside their houses and watch their tvs, lol.  We ended up meeting up with Keirsten and Ainsley and Jack just had a blast.  There was a guy dressed up like Beetlejuice and Jack ran up to him and said, "You are a ghost.  Hi, my name is Jacky."  LOL!  He has NO fear.  One couple even had their garage set up like a haunted house with strobe lights and black lights and he ran on in there for his candy, even though bigger kids were hanging back.  Wild child!  By the end of 2 hours, he had to drag his candy bag because it was as heavy as he was and he was not unhappy to be home.  I could tell that he was super-tired, so I fed him something solid, let him eat one treat and then gave him a bath, brushed his teeth and put him in bed.  He passed out cold within 10 minutes and didn't even protest going nite nite.  It was a great Halloween. :)

Day 49

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Okay...today was insane.  I seriously don't even know where to start.  We woke up early and it was COLD!  Like 29 degrees and I was supposed to have a photo shoot with a 2 year old.  I called the lady I was meeting and asked her if we could meet a bit later and I am glad we did because it was still chilly when we got out there.  Jack had a good time and played so sweetly with Addison and we had fun!  After we left there, we ran to play at the park for a while.  Jack had a good time playing soccer with mommy and even tried going down the big set of rails that you slide down with your arms.  He has never done that before and it scared me to death when I saw him FLY down that thing and hit the ground but I just died laughing because it was so funny.  Thankfully, I had my camera aimed and snapped a couple of photos of him in action.

After we left the park, we ran to Wal-mart for a pumpkin to carve and some cupcakes and chocolate chips.  Ever since we had the happy face pancake, Jack has been BEGGING to make other types of food happy, so I thought I would get him a cupcake and let him put chocolate chips on it.  They were out of pumpkins but Jack did get his face painted and he asked for a football.  So cute!  He passed out on the way home with his mouth on the Coke bottle!! It was SOOO funny!  I just had to take a picture *carefully* even though we were driving because I knew I would just die if I missed that.  My baby was exhausted and his day STILL wasn't over!

I took him home and fed him "real food" (as he calls it) and then let him make a face on his cupcake.  He made a sad face this time, lol.  He said that the cupcake was sad because he was going to eat it.  As soon as he rested for an hour, it was time to run to Ashley's for her fall festival at Pink & Blue.  Jack had a blast playing with his buddies (especially the big boys) and he slept better than he has in days because he was so exhausted.  So was I -- big time!

Day 48

Payday!!  Can I get an "amen"?  I ran some much-needed errands today.  I had promised Jack a "happy face" pancake from IHOP all week long (because they were free on Friday for Halloween for kids) and he got excited every time he saw the commercials, so I had to make good on my promise.  I took him in and they brought the giant pancake to him with just the whipped cream on it in the shape of a smiley face and they also brought him a little cup of candy corn and mini-Oreos and he was able to build his own face!  While he was doing that, I was shovelling scrambled eggs with cheese into his mouth as fast as I could because that is the last thing my child needs is to send him into sugar shock.  He ended up eating the entire face off of the pancake and throwing a fit if I tried to break pieces off for him to eat, so I just fed my potato soup to him and he was happy with that.  He had a great time with that.  When we got back to the car, we saw a little garden spider on my bumper and Jack yelled, "MOMMY!!!  IT'S A TA-WANCH-A-WAH!!!!!!" and he made me save it and put it on a leaf and carry it to a tree, so that it wouldn't fly off of my bumper as I drove, haha.

After IHOP, we ran by Kohl's for a couple of shirts.  One for Jack and one for Sam for his birthday shirt (which will be late since I have to make it and mail it).  I saw my friend Melanie there with her grandbaby and I talked to her for long enough to make Jack decide I needed to buy him a Thomas track and cars ($80) and when I refused, he decided to lay in the floor until I changed my mind.  It was like a peaceful protest.  He wasn't screaming or anything --- just laying there.  When I threatened to leave him, he jumped up pretty quickly!

Other than that, it was just business as usual.  I made blanket tents for Jack while he watched Brainsurge and then he went off to sleep like a good baby. :)
