The Greatest Show On Earth

Today was Jackson's first trip to the circus and he had a GREAT time!  He wore his custom circus shirt, made by Mommy and was very proud of it.  We got there an hour early for a meet and greet with some of the preformers and Jack got cotton candy, a hot dog and a cool circus hat.  He wasn't so sure about the clown but he warmed up to him after hiding behind Mommy in line.  At one point, he made his escape and watched the clown warily from between the adults' legs.  His absolute favorite act was the elephants and he danced and sang and had a great time!  He liked the "fireworks" and the parrots too and he got a kick out of the camels.  He was a super growly-guss when he got home because he fell asleep on the way but he snapped out of it after he ate.

EDIT//  Funny thing that happened was I sat by a VERY large woman and she spilled over into half of my chair!  I had to sit all scrunched up to Jack's seat to keep from being sweated on!  YUCK!

"It Smells Like......Pineapple!"

People who know me and Jack know that we don't sit still for long.  I can't stand to be cooped up in the house for more than a few days and we have been housebound for days because of the heat!  Today, I took Jack out for ice cream at 3 Flamingos and then to Zaxby's for lunch.  At 3 Flamingos, he got strawberry yogurt topped with wow wows (mini M&Ms), goldfish crackers, giant swirly marshmallows and a few other weird things.  He always picks the strangest combinations and he kept everyone in the store entertained while he flirted with girls.

After Garry got home, we decided to go out to Paradise Park to let Jack run off some steam.  It was around 7:00, so it was a lot cooler than earlier in the day.  We took bread for the ducks/geese and the fishing poles.  Jack had fun feeding the ducks and had to pee on the trees, of course.  Garry caught a fish and was trying to remove the hook when Jack poked the fish and stuck his finger in his mouth.  He made an AWFUL face (see below) and said it smelled bad!  I asked him what it smelled like and he thought for a minute and said, "It smelled like....pineapple!"  LOL!  He got to throw the fish back himself and when we got home, he caught a frog too!  Needless to say, he got a bath immediately after walking in the door.

He also tried to con me into letting him sleep with me but I was strong and he slept in his bed until almost sunrise.  :)

Oh No!  The Cicada!

A few weeks ago, I was sitting on the back porch watching Jack play on his swingset when he suddenly let out a squeal and ran to me yelling "Oh no, Mommy!  Help, help!  The beetle is going to get me!"  I just laughed and told him that beetles don't bite and to "go play" and he was adamant that I needed to remove the beetle from his swingset, so I walked over there and saw that it was a cicada shell.  I figured he would be interested because he loves anything science-y, so I took it down and tried to show him but he was NOT having it!  He stood about six feet away and would back up when I  got closer, so I decided to have a little fun.  When he wasn't paying attention, I hung it on his shirt and he TOOK OFF running and screaming through the yard, haha!  It was SOOO funny.

Well, today we found another (even bigger) shell on his swingset and he requested that I remove it.  This time, he actually touched it and carried it around for a while.  We couldn't stay outside for too long though because it was about 112 degrees and humid.  I surely am sick of this Arkansas weather.

Okay, so my child has a butter obsession.  Being on a diet, I cannot have normal butter because of the calories, so I buy this spray kind to spritz my veggies to make them more tolerable.  Well, he has taken a liking to it and will sneak it out of the fridge and spray it in his mouth as fast as he can.  I fuss at him and make him put it back and he just sneaks it out again later. He is like a butter addict, lol.

And he has been doing a great job of sleeping in his own bed!  I am so proud of him!!  He usually ends up in bed with me but he always starts his night here and is there for at least 6-7 hours and that is amazing for me!

August 2, 2011 --- HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

And The Sun Melted Into Arkansas...

Dear heavens...105 degrees.  Just when I was getting excited for summer to be in it's last hot month so that I could tolerate going outdoors, Arkansas decided to have record-breaking heatwaves all week!  ARG!  So now I obviously can't take Jack outdoors for long because he hates the heat as much as I do!  So what to do with a rowdy and busy 4 year old boy-child?  BUBBLES!!!!

I filled the bathtub with bubbles and turned on the jets and Jack had a wonderful hour of fun!  A short time later, I got bored and decided to mow the lawn, like a crazy person.  It wasn't that bad, either.  Even with as much as I have to lose, even 25 pounds has made a GIANT difference.  I have more energy, I feel better and I am much happier.  Garry ended up finishing up the back yard and we took Jack to Tropical Smoothie Cafe for them to grab something to eat.  I had a Lean Cuisine. :)

Jack has been doing  REALLY well sleeping in his own bed but he pees either his bed or mine (he crawls in with me around sunrise) almost every night!  It is really frustrating!  I think it might be because I have increased the amount of water he is drinking and decreased sugary juices and because I drink so much water and he is always having sips of mine.  Hopefully, his little system gets used to it soon because I am tired of changing sheets!

Catching Up!
